TALKMI I The ALK Mindfulness Initiative

Impact

In the past two years, TALKMI has partnered with Farnam Neighborhood House, a program of Clifford W. Beers Guidance Clinic, Inc. (also known as Clifford Beers Community Care Center), to expand its collaboration with New Haven Public Schools (NHPS). Through the Fun Clubs, Saturday Success Academy, Camp Farnam, and Farnam Camp Family Fun Days. Under these programs TALKMI has provided approximately 2000 NHPS students with access to a range of enrichment, social-emotional, and recreational activities that prioritize mindfulness.

TALKMI has also partnered with CliffordBeers’ Care Coordination Unit for the COVID-Respite Care for Children Program to service over 50 families. This specialized COVID- Respite Care offers parent/caregivers who have a child or children with serious emotional disturbance (SED), who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic, a short-term break by offering support and care to the child for 60-90 minutes per week for a period of 8-10 weeks.

Community programs have a significant impact on children’s lives, offering numerous benefits that contribute to their overall development and well-being. These programs play a crucial role in nurturing children’s potential, fostering their personal growth, and empowering them to become confident, well-rounded individuals.

TALKMI will continue to strive to make a positive impact on the lives of the children and families we serve.
